How important is location?

Location has always been an important aspect of any property purchase. But properties in desirable locations are selling particularly well at the moment.

In the Crows Nest, Wollstonecraft and Waverton areas, a desirable location means one of two things: 1. A quiet street, and 2. A level 5 – 10-minute walk to transport. Naturally, properties that offer both a quiet and convenient location are highly sought after.

There are a few likely reasons for this trend. Firstly, older couples who are downsizing from a big North Shore home to a two or three-bedroom apartment close to the city don’t like noise and don’t want to be too far from amenities. Then there’s the time-poor young professionals who either need a quiet place to work from home or want to keep their daily commute to a minimum. The further they are from transport, the longer it takes to get to and from work.

Properties near the new Metro will get a boost this year when the trains are up and running. This will be one of the most significant changes the Crows Nest area has ever seen.

Those who want more bang for their buck don’t necessarily need to purchase in another suburb. They just need to compromise on location and perhaps live on a main road or a little further away from key transport hubs or village shops and cafes than they’d like.
